AC Shadows Introduces Unexpected Attack on Titan Crossover for Thanksgiving

In a unexpected partnership that challenges traditional predictions, Ubisoft has announced an in-game crossover between Assassin's Creed Shadows and the acclaimed anime series Attack on Titan. The surprising holiday event runs from November 25 through December 22, providing free extra story content for Shadows players.

Peculiar Mission Revealed

According to the formal announcement, "A strange encounter draws protagonists Naoe and Yasuke into a new adventure, where hints of prohibited practices and monstrous metamorphoses echo through the obscurity." The plot features a "oddly garbed woman named Ada" who tasks the duo with journeying into the Crystalline Cavern—a key location from Attack on Titan—to save her ally from a hidden cult.

The questline concentrates on "peculiar tests and a monstrous foe" and is available to all players who have acquired the Yasuke character.

Iconic Places and Transformations

The teaser features the Hidden Temple from Attack on Titan reimagined as the Crystal Cave. This important location was earlier where the Reiss royal family passed down the Founding Titan ability through eras. The teaser finishes with a striking moment showing a character, presumably the captive, morphing into a Titan that rises over Naoe and Yasuke.

Exclusive Prizes and Extra Features

Players who successfully complete the adventure will receive an special katana alongside multiple objects hidden throughout the area in secret chests. The update also features purchasable Attack on Titan item packs, featuring:

Third Free Story Update

This update also introduces the game's newest no-cost story content, titled "A Puzzlement." This humorous adventure teams Naoe and Yasuke as they exchange signature abilities: Naoe debuts a performative interpretation of Yasuke's war kick, while Yasuke acquires non-fatal stealth takedowns. True to its name, "The Mystery" also includes a fresh environmental puzzle that may finally explain some unanswered questions from the main storyline.

This marks hardly the first time the Assassin's Creed franchise has crossed over with famous anime properties. The series previously showcased a 2020 cross-promotional story connecting Assassin's Creed: Valhalla with Makoto Yukimura's Vinland Saga. Additionally, Valhalla unofficially featured a quest that unmistakably referenced the popular series One-Punch Man.
